Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
A Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) will be written to alter a student's problem behavior. In creating the plan, the findings and results from the FBA should be taken into consideration. The purpose of this plan is to describe the target behaviors and explain what interventions will be used. There are many aspects that school personnel must consider before, during, and after writing the behavior intervention plan.

Behavior intervention plans are an effective way to ensure that attention is given to behaviors of students. It provides students with replacement behaviors so they can learn how to act positively and appropriately. Problem behaviors must be addressed so students can be successful in the classroom.

- Gather background information about the student
- Gather necessary information about problem behavior
- Consider the results of the functional behavioral assessment
- Decide if the behavior as a manifestation of the student's disability

- Review target behavior of FBA
- Determine behavioral goals
- Determine specific intervention strategies
- Decide on dates for evaluation and review of plan
- Pick appropriate methods to evaluate the plan
After
- Implement the plan
- Evaluate the effectiveness
