Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and
Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
Functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans are processes of assessing and altering the problem behavior of students. Through the assessments, answers can be found to why a student is exhibiting specific behaviors. With these results and findings, an intervention plan can be written to alter student behavior. Although this process can be long and tiring, it is in the best interest for students who display behavior issues. The school is responsible for providing each student with a free and appropriate public education, including behavior. Each student should be given the best opportunity to succeed in the classroom, and for some students there might be behavioral issues that are hindering that. Schools should do everything they can to help students.
